The programme opened with an internal safeguards kick-off session between the Project Office and financing partners, focusing on biodiversity monitoring, and progress on upper catchment work. This was followed by a formal safeguard meeting reviewing implementation of the Construction Environmental and Social Management Plans (CESMPs), safeguards monitoring, reporting formats, review of project company reports, and the use of digital tools to strengthen Social Impact Monitoring.

A thematic safeguards meeting then examined key field issues, including occupational health and safety, sediment and slope controls, wastewater and drainage management at worker’s camp, grievance redress, biodiversity in core land areas, labour conditions, cultural heritage, social impact management plan (SIMP) implementation, early warning system and associated community consultations, and the assessment of Community Benefit Sharing Programme (CBSP) assets. The day also included dedicated discussions on the Upper Tina Protected Area and progress on Tina, reflecting continued attention to long-term biodiversity management and community-focused project outcomes.
