A group of bright Form 7 students from Honiara High School recently visited the Tina Hydropower Development Project (TRHDP) Site in Central Guadalcanal on 29 October 2025, gaining an up-close look at how a renewable energy project is implemented.
Travelling from the capital to Malango Ward, the students accompanied by school staff were warmly welcomed by representatives from the Project Office (PO) and Tina Hydropower Limited (THL). The visit provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn about the real-world application of renewable energy, environmental, and social management.

Mr Pradip Verma, Project Manager at the Project Office (PO), explained how the project harnesses the natural flow of the Tina River to generate clean, reliable electricity. This initiative aims to reduce the country's dependence on imported diesel and promote sustainable development.
The visit is part of the Project Office’s ongoing educational outreach program, which is designed to engage schools and tertiary institutions across the country to understand the largest renewable infrastructure project construction and operations. By offering practical learning experiences, the program hopes to inspire students to pursue careers that contribute to the Solomon Islands’ sustainable future.
