Day 1 of the training took place in the PO Conference room to prepare the team to conduct a socio-economic baseline survey at Malatoha, Malango and Belaha. The purpose of this study is to measure how community wellbeing has changed since the project baseline and to inform adaptive management by TRHDP partners. Findings will be shared with stakeholders and communities to strengthen environmental, social, and livelihood responses.

The training commenced on Thursday, 6th November. On the first day, the consultants led a full-day session that included:

  • An overview of the TRHDP and its background
  • The purpose and scope of the study
  • Research approaches for targeted populations
  • A walkthrough of the survey questionnaires
  • Guidance on data collection and processing methods

They were allowed to share their previous survey experiences and challenges. This collaborative session helped improve the survey questionnaires, which will then be tested in a trial run.

Interviews will be conducted across project-area villages in Bahomea/Malango, with community leaders informed ahead of visits.
