Board of Trustees and Fund Management Office Host Strategic Planning Workshop to Chart 5-Year Roadmap for Community Benefit Sharing.

October 19, 2026—The Board of Trustees (BoT) and the Fund Management Office (FMO) of the Bahomea and Malango Community Benefit Sharing Trust Fund (CBSTF) successfully concluded an intensive two-day Strategic Planning Workshop held on October 15–16, 2026, at the Parangiju Mountain Lodge—Central Guadalcanal.

Facilitated by consultant Mrs. Lilly Lomulo, the strategic workshop brought together Board of Trustees leadership, FMO executive staff, and institutional partners to lay the groundwork for the CBSTF Strategic Plan (2027–2031). The overarching goal of the initiative is to establish an operational roadmap that guides the Fund’s transition into a standalone project implementation entity, ensuring sustainable benefit-sharing mechanisms for communities impacted by the Tina River Hydropower Development Project (TRHDP).

Formally incorporated under the Charitable Trusts Act in 2023, as part of the World Bank–funded Solomon Islands Community Benefits Sharing Project – Phase 2 (CBSP-2), the CBSTF is designed to channel power-generation revenues into long-term socio-economic development, climate-resilient infrastructure, and community empowerment across target communities in the Bahomea, Malango, and Ado/Belaha catchment regions.

Over the course of the two-day session, the board engaged in visioning exercises and structured deliberations around Fund’s strategic pillars. Reflecting on the milestone workshop, Mr. Denson Denni, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, highlighted the strategic importance of establishing a clear roadmap for the Fund's future:

"This strategic planning workshop marks an important step for the Bahomea and Malango Community Benefit Sharing Trust Fund as we chart our path towards long-term operational independence and self-reliance. By aligning our 5-year plan with our  vision, mission and core strategic pillars—spanning infrastructure, education, livelihoods, food security, social inclusion, climate resilience, and community empowerment—we are ensuring that the benefits derived from the Tina River Hydropower Development Project create lasting, equitable, and sustainable impact for our target communities across Bahomea, Malango, and Ado/Belaha. Our fiduciary responsibility as the Board of Trustees is to safeguard these community assets and establish a transparent, robust framework that empowers our people for generations to come."

The workshop outputs will be consolidated into a comprehensive synthesis report and draft Strategic Plan (2027–2031) featuring an operational implementation workplan, key performance indicators, and financing strategies. Once finalized and formally executed by the Board of Trustees, the blueprint will guide the Fund as it transitions from current World bank grant-funded pilot operations towards the long-term post-Commercial Operation Date (COD) benefit allocation under the Tina-Hydropower Development project.
