On 19 April 2026, members of the CBSTF Board of Trustees (BoT), Project Management Unit (PMU) staff, the Tina Hydro Project Office, and the Fund Management Office (FMO) participated in a field visit to the Tina River Hydropower Project (TRHP) dam site. The visit provided an important opportunity for the BoT to observe project progress firsthand and deepen their understanding and appreciation of the project landscape and future implications for the Tina communities.
The afternoon program commenced with a safety induction and briefing, underscoring the project’s strong commitment to workplace safety and risk management at the site. This was followed by a comprehensive project overview, during which Tina‑Hydro Limited staff outlined the project design, construction progress, and expected long‑term benefits for surrounding communities and the Solomon Islands energy sector.
Participants were then given the opportunity to engage in a question‑and‑answer session with Tina‑Hydro Limited representatives. This interactive discussion allowed trustees and FMO staff to seek clarity on operational, environmental, and social aspectsthus strengthening transparency and mutual understanding among all parties involved.

The visit concluded with a guided tour of key sections of the dam site, where participants observed construction activities and learned about how various components of the infrastructure will work together once the project is completed. Seeing the project on the ground will help to translate strategic plans that are currently being worked on by the BoT. The visit played a vital role in strengthening collaboration between the BoT and project partners and reinforcing the link between the hydropower project and communities in the project area..
The CBSTF is the entity set up to receive and distribute revenues from the Dam when the Dam comes commercial in 2028. For the next 30 years it will work alongside the Tina Hydro Ltd (THL) being the project operator in supporting community development in the region as part of the benefit share obligations of the project captured in the Implementation Agreement (IA) signed at the end of 2018 between the Solomon Islands Government (SIG) and THL.
The CBSTF extends its sincere appreciation to THL for hosting the visit and to all participants for their active engagement and insightful contributions.
